The things are not cleared yet, but most of the Geologists & scientists are saying that – this is the bad impact of Global Warming. If global warming is the cause of this glacier burst, then it is an alarming situation for the country. If we talk about the previous 2013 Kedarnath Uttarakhand flood that was totally a natural disaster. In that time cloudburst near Gandhi Sarovar in Kedarnath, and the lake can’t bear that much water and become the reason for the lake burst.

Early in the morning a group of Scientist from Delhi & Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, already departed for research, and very soon we’ll know the actual reason of this massive disaster.

The things are still not crystal clear yet. The theories which are coming is as follows –

• Theory 1 – According to the Wadia Institute of Geologist, there was a Hanging glacier part of Mrighu Dhan peak (local name) which collapsed when a huge rock mass fell on that part. When the debris came down the huge mass slowed a bit, then stopped, it blocked the water of the stream and the water quantum kept increasing. This damming up of the stream increased to such an extent that it breached the whole accumulated mass. The whole mass of water, boulders, and rock mass came crashing down with force towards the Rishi Ganga dam site.
• Theory 2 – Near by glaciers, there would be water pockets which collapsed, when landslides take down the glacier part, and bring out a flood in that region.
• Theory 3 – This is not a fact base theory but based on local villagers’ talk. They said before the flood, when the glacier burst happened, villagers complained of a strong pungent smell in the air accompanying the glacier break. They said they were unable to breathe for a while, establishing a theory that the long-lost radioactive device must have heated up the area. (To eye on China’s activity, In 1965 CIA and IB planted a nuclear radioactive surveillance device on Nanda devi peak which lost in the region and couldn’t find yet.)

What I personally feel theory second is quite relative, because water pockets are really dangerous because they can create a flash flood anytime. Recently a University professor & geologist found a fresh pool of water may be building up in the #RishiGanga river that could tip over a mass of rock and debris, thereby impeding ongoing rescue operations in #Uttarakhand.
